Parents

Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. (Ephesians 6:4)

Perfect Father,

As these children become parents, give them the ability to discern between rules, restrictions and boundaries necessary to properly train their children, and those which drive them over the edge into rebellion. This is a difficult line to walk and much judgment is required to determine what works best with each child. Give them the ability to assess what motivates each child, how each child learns and what disciplinary approaches work best with each child.

Give them the desire (and the discipline to take the time) to learn better parenting skills and to be open to modifying parenting approaches as they learn. As they age, give them the desire to mentor and share their parenting experience with younger parents. May their own children look to them as a pattern for parenting as the legacy of godly parenting is passed on.

Amen
