The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)
Dear Jesus,
It is hard for me to imagine what it must have been like to leave your unimaginable glory in heaven to take on flesh and become one of us. John testifies that he saw you and saw your glory, both the glory of your life lived, but also the glory of your baptism, your transfiguration, your resurrection and your ascension. I pray these children come to understand the sacrifice you made for them, not only the sacrifice on the cross, but your sacrifice made simply by becoming one of us.
I pray they understand and fully appreciate that you brought both truth - speaking it is terms that will convict anyone who truly listens, but also grace - help for them in their weakness and their inability to fully follow your teachings. I ask that you also show them your glory, played out in their lives and the lives of those around them as you open their eyes to what you are doing everyday by your power and your Spirit.
Amen
