Make the Most of Every Opportunity

Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. (Ephesians 5:15-17)

Saving Father,

It is easy to let one day blur into another, one month into another, one year into another. Life is busy, full of activities and responsibilities. But this scripture instructs us to focus, to focus on what really matters - your will. And what is at stake is the spiritual and physical wellbeing of those around us.

Give these children a special awareness of their surroundings, of the plight of the people they encounter everyday. May they develop the focus of mind and will so that they recognize the opportunities that come their way to touch lives. Help them have open eyes to see and discern situations in which they can make a difference. Then give them the courage to enter in to those opportunities and situations and the wisdom to determine who best to respond to them.

As you develop within these children the focus and perception to identify opportunities, help them thereby not to be overtaken by daily events so that they may avoid the trap of being busy, but not effective.

Amen
