“Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds. (John 8:58,59)
Jesus, King of Kings and Lord of Lords,
There is no mistaking what you claimed about yourself when you said these words. You claimed to be God, the "I AM" of Moses, YHWH, Jehovah, the creator of the universe. I pray these children come face to face with that claim. May the truth of that claim help them to understand that you are worthy of worship, and worthy of their very lives. That you are truly the King of Kings and Lord of Lords and before your awesomeness every knee will bow.
May they then fully understand the significance of you having become flesh and subjecting yourself to abuse by those whom you created. The created crucified the creator. That is too great for our minds to comprehend. And the creator gave himself for us both as a redeeming act by a mighty and gracious God, but also as an act of a man for his friends, his brothers and sisters. And because of that, may they realize that God, the creator, now sympathizes in their weakness and pleads their case before the Father. Truly you are worthy to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!
Amen
